1859 : The first conformation dog show (dog breed show) was held in Newcastle upon Tyne, in England.
1880 : NED KELLY the Australian bushranger, outlaw and gang leader was captured at Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia. He was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging, which was conducted at the Old Melbourne Gaol, about 4 months later on the 11th November. His last words were “Such is life”.

1953 : The 1st CORVETTE was assembled at the Chevrolet plant in Flint, Michigan. The first Corvette rolled off the assembly line two days later, one of only 300 Corvettes made that year. The idea for the Corvette came from Harley J. Earl, a General Motors’ pioneering designer, who in 1951 began developing plans for a low-cost American sports car that could compete with Europe’s Jaguars, MGs, and Ferraris. The project was eventually code-named Opel. In January 1953, GM debuted the Corvette concept car at the Motorama auto show at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

1982 : Aeroflot Flight 8641 crashed in Mazyr, Belarus, resulting in the deaths of 132 people. The cause of the crash was due to the failure of the jackscrew mechanism in the tail of the plane, which was due to metal fatigue.
