The 2019 winner was Netherlands with the song “Arcade”, performed by Duncan Laurence, and written by Joel Sjöö, Wouter Hardy and Will Knox. This was the 5th time Netherlands had won the contest, since their wins in 1975, 1969, 1959, and 1957. The balance of the top 5 were Italy, Russia, Switzerland and Sweden.
The EUROViSiON SONG CONTEST
The Eurovision Song Contest (Concours Eurovision de la chanson) now simply known as Eurovision, is the longest-running annual international TV contest, now in its 63rd year (in 2018), with over 40 countries currently eligible to compete. Since 1956 the song contest has been primarily held among the member countries of the EBU(European Broadcasting Union). The Eurovision competition was based upon the existing Sanremo Music Festival held in Italy since 1951.
