July is the 7th month of the year in the Gregorian and Julian Calendars and one of seven months with 31 days. This month on average, is the warmest month in most of the Northern hemisphere (2nd month of summer) and the coldest month in most of the Southern hemisphere (2nd month of winter). July signifies the start of the 2nd half of the year. In the Southern hemisphere it is the seasonal equivalent of January in the Northern hemisphere.

The month of July was named by the Roman Senate in honor of the Roman general, Julius Caesar, born in this month. Prior to that, the month was called Quintilis.
