ABOUT APRiL

April is the 4th month of the year in the Gregorian calendar, the 5th in the early Julian and one of the four months with 30 days. April is commonly associated with the season of Spring in parts of the Northern hemisphere and autumn in parts of the Southern hemisphere, where it is the seasonal equivalent to October in the Northern hemisphere.

How did the month of April get its name?.. What is the etymology?.. & What are the origin?..  The answers to these Hot Facts are presented by Teacher Lindsey from Hot Facts Girls on this YouTube video…

The APRiL NAME & ORiGiN:

The Romans gave this month the Latin name of Aprilis  (the derivation of this name is uncertain). The traditional etymology came from the verb aperire, which means to open, in allusion to it being the season when trees and flowers begin to open, which is supported by comparison with the modern Greek use of ἁνοιξις (anoixis) which means opening for Spring.
