1576 ~ Diego García de Palacio the Spanish explorer first sighted the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Copán, in western Honduras.

1618 ~ The third law of planetary motion was discovered by Johannes Kepler.

1702 ~ Queen Anne became Queen regnant of England, Scotland, and Ireland. She was the younger sister of Mary II.

1817 ~ The New York Stock Exchange was founded.

1910 ~ Raymonde de Laroche the French aviator became the 1st woman to receive a pilot’s license.

1914 ~ The 1st flights of the Royal Thai Air Force, at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok.

1917 ~ International Women’s Day protests began in St. Petersburg, Russia.

1917 ~ Filibusters were limited with the adopting of cloture rule, when the United States Senate voted.
