15th January History Timeline

1892 : James Naismith published the rules of basketball.

1967 : The first Super Bowl was played in Los Angeles. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35 to 10.

1969 : The Soviet Union launched the Soyuz 5 mission, which involved docking with Soyuz 4, which was the first ever docking of two crewed spacecrafts, and the first-ever transfer of crew from one space vehicle to another.

2001 : Wikipedia free online encyclopedia was launched online by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. Wikipedia is a multilingual open-collaborative online encyclopedia which is run by a volunteer community of contributors with a wiki-based editing system. It is the largest general reference work on the Internet,  and the 13th most popular website in 2021 based on the world website ranking by Alexa.com. Wikipedia is hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation, which is a non-profit organization, funded mostly via donations (80% are small donations from individual users) which helps keep the entire website free from any advertisements.
