
The Junior MasterChef TV cooking competition series originated in the United Kingdom, and was first broadcast by the BBC in 1994, until 1999. The show was a spin-off from the original MasterChef, which began in the UK in 1990. The junior series grew in popularity around the World, and has now been produced in 28 countries.
Junior MasterChef Australia 2020 ~ series 3
Australia’s best and brightest young cooks cooked up a storm on Network 10 for the very long awaited return of the show in 2020, with judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen. The new young chefs competing were aged between 9 and 14 years old, for the 3rd series in Australia.

The Australian junior series is a spin-off from MasterChef Australia, which is an adaption of the British series. Series 1 of Junior MasterChef Australia started in 2010, with 50 contestants chosen from over 5000 children auditioned (produced by Shine Australia). Series 2 was in 2011, with no series for 8 years, until series 3 in 2020.

About SERiES 3 Junior MasterChef Australia 2020
14 new contestants were chosen from over 2000 applicants in late September. They’ll be competing in Eliminations, Mystery Boxes, Immunity Challenges and other surprises. A new addition to series 3 is The Immunity Gong, which allows 2 contestants to win the opportunity to bang the gong to save themselves from elimination.

The contestants arrive at the MasterChef kitchen for a mystery box challenge set by none other than MasterChef Australia: Back To Win winner Emelia Jackson.
Tuesday 27th October 2020
Contestants will have have 60 minutes to make a dish using hand-pulled noodles made by master Mr X. The best two noodle dishes will keep their makers safe from the next elimination.
Sunday 1st November 2020
The juniors enter the MasterChef Kitchen and discover a winter wonderland – it’s snowing! The Junior MasterChefs will be braving the cold of a two-round elimination challenge.
Monday 2nd November 2020
Curtis Stone sets this mystery box which is all about the humble potato. Contestants are vying for a place in the semifinal by creating a sweet or savoury dish featuring delicious spuds.
Tuesday 3rd November 2020
Contestants must hero a fruit or a vegetable in their dish. If they select a fruit, they need to produce a savoury dish, and if they select a vegetable, they need to create a sweet dish.
Sunday 8th November 2020
In this pressure test, contestants must re-create Kirsten Tibballs’ lemon meringue tart. The top three dishes will send their mini-makers into the Grand Finale, the others will be heading home.
Monday 9th November 2020
The Grand Finale will see one exceptional cook crowned Australia’s Junior MasterChef 2020, taking home a huge $25,000 in prize money.

2010 Series 1 winner ~ Isabella Bliss, a 12 year old girl from Queensland, who entered the competition with her twin sister Sofia, finishing in 4th position. Isabella beat Jack Lark in the final two rounds, and won $15,000 plus a trophy. Jack won $10,000 for 2nd place, Siena Johnston won $5000 for 3rd place, and Isabella’s twin sister won $5000 for 4th place.

2011 : Greta Yaxley
2011 Series 2 winner ~ Greta Yaxley, an 11 year old girl from Western Australia. Greta beat Jack Kibble in the final round and won $15,000 plus a trophy. Jack won $10,000 for 2nd place.

Isabella Bliss
Isabella Bliss won the first season of Junior MasterChef Australia in 2010 when she was 12 years old. In 2011 she worked with Cupcake for A Cure, and in 2013 she was named one of YWCA Queensland’s 125 Leading Women. In 2016 she completed Year 12 and commenced study at the University of Queensland. Isabella now works as a chef.
