1749 : HALiFAX in Nova Scotia was founded and named after the 2nd Earl of Halifax. Halifax is part of the traditional ancestral lands of the l’nu peoples, known as Mi’kma’ki, which have resided in Nova Scotia, plus New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island prior to the Europeans landing in North America in the 1400s to the 1500s, setting up their fisheries.
