1253 : Nichiren the Japanese Buddhist monk declared the essence of Buddhism to be Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō, which in effect was the founding of Nichiren Buddhism.

1700s / 18th century history on the 28th of April

1789 : MUTiNY on The BOUNTY occurred in the South Pacific Ocean when acting-Lieutenant Fletcher Christian, and dissatisfied crewmen, seized control of the ship from their captain, Lieutenant William Bligh. They set him and 18 loyalists adrift in the ship’s open launch.
