The AUGUST NAME ORiGiN :

The month of August was originally named Sextili in Latin, because it was the 6th month in the original 10 month Roman calendar under the rule of Romulus in 753 BC, back when March was the first month of the year. In 700 BC (approximately) it became the 8th month when January and February were added to the year before March by King Numa Pompilius, who made it 29 days. Julius Caesar added two extra days ( = 31 days) when he created the Julian calendar in 45 BC, and renamed it in 8 BC, in honor of Augustus.
