1700s / the 18th century on the 7th of March
1799 : Napoleon Bonaparte captured Jaffa in Palestine, and killed over 2000 Albanian captives with his troops.
1800s / the 19th century on the 7th of March
1876 : Alexander Graham Bell’s iNVENTiON of the TELEPHONE was granted a patent. Alexander Bell applied for the “Improvements in Telegraphy” patent on the 14th February 1876, for electromagnetic telephones using oscillating current and voltage, now known as amplitude modulation, and also referred to as undulating current.
1900s / the 20th century on the 7th of March
1900 ~ The German liner SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse became the 1st ship to send wireless signals to shore.
1986 : The Challenger crew cabin was located on the ocean floor by divers from the USS Preserver, after the Challenger Disaster on the 28th January 1986.
1989 ~ Iran and the United Kingdom broke diplomatic relations after a fight over Salman Rushdie and his controversial novel, The Satanic Verses. Salman Rushdie is a Booker Prize winning British Indian novelist. The Satanic Verses was his 4th novel, which was first published in 1988 and inspired in part by the life of Muhammad.
