SEPTEMBER 6th ~ This Day in History video by History.com ~ 1915 : First tank produced | & more about history on this day in the video… A prototype tank nicknamed Little Willie rolled off the assembly line in England on the 6th September 1915. Little Willie weighed 14 tons, got stuck in trenches and crawled over rough terrain at 2 miles per hour. With improvements the original prototype eventually transformed the military battlefields.

1492 ~ Christopher Columbus sailed from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, his final port of call before crossing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.

1522 ~ The Victoria, the only surviving ship of Ferdinand Magellan’s expedition, returned to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Spain, to become the 1st ship to circumnavigate the world.

1620 ~ The Pilgrims sailed from Plymouth, England, on the Mayflower to settle in North America. (note: this is an Old Style date, re: 16th September per New Style date)
