1953 : Nuclear weapons testing at the Nevada Test Site in USA. This was the first and only time the United States conducted a nuclear artillery test.

1979 : American Airlines Flight 191 McDonnell Douglas DC-10 crashed while taking off at O’Hare International Airport, in Chicago, USA. All 271 people on board the plane and 2 people on the ground were killed.
