1749 : HALiFAX in Nova Scotia was founded and named after the 2nd Earl of Halifax. Halifax is part of the traditional ancestral lands of the l’nu peoples, known as Mi’kma’ki, which have resided in Nova Scotia, plus New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island prior to the Europeans landing in North America in the 1400s to the 1500s, setting up their fisheries. 1978 : Evita the original production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical opened in London, at the Prince Edward Theatre. Evita was based on the life of Eva Perón.
1982 : John Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity for his attempt to assassinate U.S. President Ronald Reagan.

2004 : SpaceShipOne became the first crewed private spaceplane to complete a spaceflight.
2006 : Pluto‘s newly discovered moons were officially named Nix and Hydra.
2009 : GREENLAND assumed self-rule, after being governed by Denmark from 1814 to 1953, and then after Greenland was a colony, but still not independent.
