1861 : Medoza earthquake in Argentina, killing 4,300 of the 12,000 residents, and destroyed most of all the buildings.

1883 : The Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property was signed.

1915 : Albert Einstein published his general theory of relativity, which was the current description of gravitation in modern physics / a geometric theory of gravitation.

1917 : Dame Vera Lynn the English singer-songwriter was born in East Ham, Essex, England (died in 2020 aged 103).

1923 : Pablo Picasso’s first United States showing was hosted by the Arts Club of Chicago. The opening featured Original Drawings by Pablo Picasso.

1964 : European Space Research Organisation (ESRO) was established per an agreement signed on the 14th June in 1962. ESRO was the precursor of the European Space Agency.

1985 : Libby Riddles became the first woman to win the 1,135-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

1985 : Rick Hansen the Canadian paraplegic athlete began his circumnavigation of the world in a wheelchair.

1987 : AZT anti-AiDS drug was approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

2003 : Invasion of Iraq by The United States, UK, Australia, and Poland began.

1955 : Ian Moss the Australian guitarist & singer-songwriter was born in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. He is the co-founder of Cold Chisel, a very successful pub rock band.

2012 : Jim Stynes the Irish born, Australian footballer died aged 45, from cancer caused by a melanoma that had metastasised (born in 1966).

2020 : Kenny Rogers the American singer died from natural causes aged 81 (born in 1938).
