1886 : GEORGE MALLORY the English mountaineer was born in Mobberley, Cheshire, England. He took part in the first 3 British expeditions to Mount Everest in Tibet, in the early 1920s. George Mallory died on the North Face of Mount Everest in 1924, aged 37.
