April 14th ~ This Day in History video by History.com ~ 1865: Lincoln was shot : John Wilkes Booth, an actor and Confederate sympathizer, fatally shot President Abraham Lincoln at a play at Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. on the 14th April 1865.  The attack came only five days after Confederate General Robert E.
